What a woman

We celebrated my (Kristin) Nana's 90th birthday this past weekend in Carthage. It was Emma's first trip and she did great and pretty much slept the 3 hours there and back. Can you imagine 90?!? In so many ways I hope to become a woman like my Nana. It was great seeing lots of family and introducing Emma to everyone. Of course Emma got the most time with her Great-Grandmother and Nana didn't want to put her down at all. I think it was a God thing because whenever Nana was holding Emma, she was the calmest and stillest child I think I have ever seen her. She would just sit there and look at Nana and then sleep with her for a long time. Nana just talked to her and watched her sleep most of the time. Nana said she had more experience with babies that is why Emma liked her so much. Overall great weekend with lots of Emma and Great-Grandma time, which is what we wanted most. Oh yes, and we had Emma's first snow. There wasn't much, but there was snow in East Texas on Friday.

Can you see the snow?

I promise it was snowing

Avery wasn't so sure about her mom holding Emma. I can't believe Emma will be that big in just about 10 months!

We are ready for Christmas now!

Thankful

We had a great thanksgiving of relaxing, eating, spending time with family and watching football. I have lots of pictures but don't want to take the time to put them in order, so here they are in reverse.

Such a cutie (and looking way to big by the way)

Tired after lots of eating

Taking a nap with PawPaw, we still love our hands above our head

Family of 3

Takes 2 sometimes with her messes

Don't all families play Rockband all day on Thanksgiving??

We have a better picture, but I think this face is so funny. Probably because we woke her up to see the band.

Getting ready to cheer on the team

Everyone kept bringing me snacks while I was feeding Emma before the game, looks healthy, right??

Meeting Uncle Shane for the first time

Our Thanksgiving cutie pie

Another video for the Grandparents. Ignore my voice please!

The cutest Aggie yet

Emma made it through her first Aggie sporting event (well..first event out of the womb) on Saturday at a great football game against Baylor. Thanks Paw Paw for getting us tickets. She did great, which we were a little worried about since Friday evening she had a really rough time when we were at friends for dinner. Emma took in the game and cheering by sleeping pretty much the entire game. We even had to wake her up to eat, which is not something she normally misses! We had lots of visitors stop by the suite to meet Emma, including the first lady of Aggieland, Reveille herself.

Enjoying the band

Touchdown!

I love her so much

so does Dad

She woke up after the game and loved looking out the window

1 month old

Wow, I can't believe one month ago we were in the hospital meeting Emma for the first time. This week we moved to size 1 diapers, we never thought she would get out of newborn. Boy do we go through diapers. I thought I had a stash that would last a while, but it is dwindling quickly, we even had to buy a package of newborns and I am guessing we will have to buy more size 1s since she had 8 poopy diapers in a span of an hour this morning! Each time I got her changed and dressed she would poop, I think she was just waiting till I had her fully dressed and then let it go again! She is starting to be able to wear some of her 0-3 month clothes. I really thought she would be wearing those sooner, but guess I was wrong. These days we do a lot of sitting on the couch talking to each other as she likes to be held most of the time. We listen to Baby Praise in the mornings and play on our play mat looking at toys. I always have things I would like to get done during the day, but have learned not to have a plan and just enjoy my little girl instead of having a clean house or food to eat. I already think she is starting to look like a little girl and not my baby, so really enjoying our time together now and everything else can wait. She is changing everyday and we can't wait to see what the next month holds for her. Our little family 1 month old Going to meet daddy for a birthday lunch
Emma is really starting to "talk" more these days and I got some on the camera (we have a ton on the video camera but I haven't tried to figure out how to get that on here), this was at the end when she had already been talking for a while. And yes she is wearing a Christmas shirt, we had our cute hearts shirt on and spit up all over and this is what I grabbed and fit her.

Where does the time go

I can't believe Emma will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. Honestly not sure where the time has gone, sometimes it seems like she has been a part of the family forever and other times it seems like I was just pregnant yesterday. We are still adjusting as I am sure we will be for some time, but each day is getting better and better. We truly enjoy all our time with her and seeing all the new things she does.

-In the last couple days she is so much more alert and wanting to look around and stay awake. Which is good and bad, I can no longer get her to sleep all day, but I do love playing with her and seeing her take the world in.
-She has now started grunting, it is really funny and not sure why she decided she needed to add that on top of crying.
-Crying, boy can she scream, but we pretty much have it figured out what she needs or wants for each cry.
-Cooing, she has done this a couple times but I haven't been able to get it on camera yet as it is far and few better. We can tell she is wanting to more and more because she opens and closes her mouth all the time when we are playing.
-Holding her head up even more than before. She has done this since she was born, but lately she can really hold it up for a while and turn to look at things.
-Pull her pacifier out of her mouth, not sure if I like this one but she has figured it out, now just need to get her to put it back in!
-She loves going on walks (well I say love because she falls asleep as soon as we start out) and since the weather has been nice we go about every day.
-She has a brown pie piece shape in her right eye (like her Uncle Jo) so we are trying to decide if it will stay that way with blue eyes or if they are going to turn totally brown.
-She still is a great eater (gets that from David of course) and would love to do that 24 hours a day.
-We weighed her on Grammy's scale today and showed her being 9.2 lbs, not sure how accurate that is though.

These are from our impromptu photo shoot this morning before we pooped on our outfit. (still need to get "official" newborn pictures done, although I guess it would now be 1 month pictures, yikes!)

Can you tell she was smiling behind that hand??

Loves sleeping on daddy, doesn't she look so peaceful?

Can you see that curly hair after a bath? For sure got that from dad if it turns curly.

We like to be wide awake in early morning, even if mom and dad aren't ready for it.

Out and About

The past couple days Emma has started hitting the town and has done great. She has enjoyed shopping at a couple stores and eating out a couple times as well. Let's hope she continues to enjoy her time in the car seat and shopping with mom.

Her 2 week appointment went great and she is now 8 lb 8oz. We were a little worried about her getting enough to eat because she always seems hungry, but obviously she is getting plenty and just a growing girl. She still has a little jaundice but nothing serious and should continue to go away.

We had out first weekend visitors, Lauren and Monty were troopers with us still figuring everything out. We joked that is was a good thing Lauren is already pregnant and waiting for their little girl to come in April or they might have changed their minds about having kids!

Emma did have her first Halloween, however we only stayed in our pea outfit for about a minute before we started screaming. Can't wait for next year as she will be such a fun age.

Other than that we are hanging out at home and still getting to know each other, trying to sleep when we can and enjoy our time as a family of three. The last couple days she has become much more alert and taking in her surroundings.

Such a lady and loves to cross her legs (she was always that way inside me as well)

She still loves to have her arms above her or her hands by her face when sleeping

Other scenes from around our house

Emma has lots of gas and burping issues, so this has become a staple in our house. If you have a baby and are using Mylicon, get a Sam's Club membership! If you ask the pharmacist they carry a "Major" brand behind the counter and sell it at cost for $1.73 a bottle. Boy is that going to save us a ton of money!

More pictures to come soon, we are off for our first walk since it is such a nice day outside.

10 Days Old

Emma is now 10 days old! We have had a long week of figuring out what Emma likes and what she doesn't. David finally caught up with school and Kristin is feeling much better. We made our first outing today to Toys R Us to buy a new diaper champ. The used one we had broke and the smell was definitely building. Glad its the weekend. Emma is ready to watch a lot of football on Saturday!
